Calming Cramps

I have always had cramps during my period. They can turn any normal day into a sweatshirt wearing, couch lounging day. Cramps that terrorize your lower body leave you turning to any pain reliever you can find. During my teen and early adult years I would pop 4 (800mg) Ibuprofen every 4 hours until my menstrual cycle was over. There has been a lot of research that has come out with the effects that pain relievers are causing on our bodies. If you regularly take pain medications for common alignments I would strongly encourage you to start understanding how you are putting your health at risk. (HERE)

I have found great success using Clary Sage & Doterra’s Blend called Whisper from relief of menstrual cramps.

Clary Sage-  Anticonvulsive, antidepressant, antifungal, anti-infectious, antiseptic, anti-spasmodic, anti-inflammatory, astringent, nerve tonic, sedative, soothing and warming

* It also contains natural phytoestrogens. supporting a normal, healthy attitude during PMS, as well as soothing monthly discomfort, associated with menstrual cycles.  It is also supportive for menopausal women.

Application for menstrual cramp relief:

Combine 1-2 drops or Clary Sage & Whisper (use carrier oil to enable massage) gentle rhythmical massage over the stomach and abdomen, or hot compresses of Clary Sage are very comforting. (I only need 1 application to find relief for the day)

*Clary Sage is an emmenagogue (stimulates blood flow in pelvic and uterus) , and can help scanty or missing periods. It is best used the first half of the menstrual cycle, if used in the second half it can sometimes induce very heavy bleeding.
