Miles is 2!!!

September 16, 2013

2 Birthdays a week a part from each other! I’ve been a busy mamma! It’s been a great week of celebrating my littles. As parents we are enriched and blessed to watch them grow every year! Miles is my little warrior! He’s tender hearted but with a wild fury in him. Growling at potential monsters while picking flowers for “mamma”. I love my little sweetie. He can melt me with his smile in an instant. Today we celebrate his life and the gift he is to our family! Happy Birthday Miles!

Miles Home Birth: Happy Birthday Part 1

September 16, 2013

“Birth is an opportunity to transcend. To rise above what we are accustomed to, reach deeper inside ourselves than we are familiar with, and to see not only what we are truly made of, but the strength we can access in and through Birth.” –Marcie Macari

2 years ago i encountered the finale of my pregnant journey. I came to the end and it was time to bare down and face labor. For me, natural labor has become a deeply sacred event in which i seek as a victory to claim. I didn’t desire glory or prize for it….but rather it was a part of me that was important to endure as a mother.  A pain not to be confused with suffering but a transforming moment worthy to experience.

Happy Birthday Norah!

September 11, 2013

I can’t believe I have a 6 year old! Time has gone so quickly. While I was editing these photos I literally had to stop and sit back and just say “wow”. I don’t have a baby at all anymore. She’s a full grown beautiful girl. The life that radiates from her soul is so precious and gentle. She captures everyone she meets. I’m thankful to have her and be her mother. So here’s to another year of watching my children grow up. My Norah:

The Beautiful Sarah Mckenney

September 9, 2013

I am so excited to start my first feature on the blog. Every few months i want to highlight a mom who leads an ordinary life but is an extraordinary soul. Being a mother myself i know how easy it can be to forget that you have a strong valuable voice and that others can receive so much benefit from just being around your experience. Since my blog is about myself and my family i wanted to highlight the people who are important to us and that have made a huge mark in our lives. I also get the privilege of photographing them to allow you to see them through me. I want to lead my first feature with a dear friend of mine.

May i introduce to you the lovely: Sarah Mckenney

Sarah, tell me a little bit about yourself. Your creative passion and heart for being a mother.

I am my husband Brian’s amour bearer, an actor, a mother and a bold lover of Jesus. I am my children’s first glimpse at a loving God, I am a creative and I love the One who gave me everything and rescued me.

Introduce your amazing children.

Liam Miles is 5 1/2, Asher Tristan is almost 4 and Pippa Harlow turns 2 this month.

How has becoming a mother changed you?

Those little people have turned me inside out, upside down and pointed me to the only power source that makes motherhood possible-the Spirit of the Living God. The days that I try to do it on my own, I’m like a heavy laden cargo ship pushing through. It’s the days that I let go and harness a power not my own that I glide along like a sail boat. “Let go of the cargo ship and go sailing with your God.” -Pastor Kenny Engels, Calvary Chapel Chattanooga.

What do you find is your biggest struggle being a mom?

My biggest struggle as a mom is waking up each morning without an IV of french press coffee! Once I’ve had my cup of joe, our morning ritual of homeschool commences, but the most beautiful part of my day is at night. We lay on our children’s bedroom floor (yes, they are in one room) and we worship. We lay down our burdens and we lift up our hands to Him. Each child has their request: Pippa – Holy by Jesus Culture, Asher -All the Poor and Powerless by The Digital Age and Liam -To Our God by Bethel Music.

What’s the biggest challenge you have had to face as a family?

A season of unemployment, we have seen the church come alive and God move in miraculous ways. We have lived with the funnel of cloud by day and the pillar of fire guiding us by night. We have eaten manna. God has been our strong tower in our hour(s) of dependence.

Who inspires you? In what way are you inspired by that person?

There was a woman in our church body that lived every hour of pain, every season of joy, every breath of marriage and motherhood as an act of worship of Jesus Christ. She made cancer kneel at the feet of Jesus. She praises Him face to face now. She inspires me to live like that until my last breath. “And on that day when my strength is failing, the end draws near and my time has come. Still my soul will sing Your praise unending 10,000 years and then forevermore.” -10,000 Reasons by Matt Redman

What is next for your family?

We believe that our future includes domestic adoption. We have a profile letter on file with a local attorney, and we stand in anticipation for this next chapter in our family’s life. We’ve learned that whether in an uncertain season or in adding a member to our family, waiting can be beautiful
